HUARI, LAND OF THE
GUAGANCU FLOWERS
GENERAL INFORMATION
LOCATION
Capital of the province of Huari, is located at 147 kms. east of Huaraz, in the valley of the Conchucos, at the oriental part of the department of Ancash. It has an extended valley that's been made by the Huaritambo, Purhuay and Jacabamba rivers. The water of this rivers go to the Marañon, ending up in the Atlantic Ocean.
ALTITUDE
The town of Huari is at 3,149 mts. above sea level.
POPULATION
It has a population of 8,000 inhabitants.
CLIMATE
Most of the year is lukewarm. In summer (December to March) is the rainy season with sunny mornings and in winter (June to September) during the day, its warm and at night, cold.
ACCESS / APPROACH
By Land:
It communicates from Lima by the Northern Pan-American Highway that goes to Huaraz. At the intersection of Catac, the road (paved) heads east towards the Conchucos Valley were Huari is located. It takes aprox. 11 hours from Lima and 4 1/2 hrs. from Huaraz. Daily departures from Huaraz and Lima.
